Sino-US relations & the Asia Pacific

Dr Aaron Friedberg is the Professor of Politics & International Affairs at Princeton University. On 6 January 2012, he delivered the 3rd Annual ST Lee Lecture organised by the Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS).

Titled “A Contest for Supremacy: China, America and the Struggle for Mastery in Asia”, Dr Friedberg discussed how the changing dynamics of Sino-US relations will impact the Asia Pacific region. In particular, he highlighted the uncertainty in China’s leadership transition may allow interest groups like the military to dictate China’s foreign policy.
