S.R. Nathan, 6th President of Singapore
Yesterday, the Prime Minister hosted a farewell reception for President S.R. Nathan. S.R. Nathan’s presidency lapses on 1 September 2011. Over 200 guests attended the reception, including President-elect Dr Tony Tan, the Cabinet, MPs and senior civil servants.
The Prime Minister thanked President S.R.Nathan for his support and understanding. President S.R. Nathan approved the use of past reserves to fund the Resilience Package as well as providing guarantee to local and foreign deposit holders in Singapore, in response to the 2008 Global Financial Crisis
