In the first televised pre-election forum in Singapore over two decades, Channel NewsAsia invited the PAP, SDP, WP and the SPP to discuss hot issues that will have an impact on the coming General Election. The programme, in English entitled, “A political form on Singapore’s future” brings together the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) and four opposition parties provides a platform for citizens to know the parties better.

Channel NewsAsia presenter, Melissa Hyak, moderates the structured forum with allotted time for the representatives to present their party’s position and perspectives. Opposition members are given half the air time, and the ruling PAP is given 50 percent of the time. There are also discussion segments where participants can freely argue and articulate their views to give voters an insight into their thinking.
