In the first televised pre-election forum in Singapore over two decades, Channel NewsAsia invited the PAP, SDP, WP and the SPP to discuss hot issues that will have an impact on the coming General Election. The programme, in English entitled, “A political form on Singapore’s future” brings together the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) and four opposition parties provides a platform for citizens to know the parties better.
Channel NewsAsia presenter, Melissa Hyak, moderates the structured forum with allotted time for the representatives to present their party’s position and perspectives. Opposition members are given half the air time, and the ruling PAP is given 50 percent of the time. There are also discussion segments where participants can freely argue and articulate their views to give voters an insight into their thinking.
i have had enough of pap’s rhetoric.
enough is enough.
i vote for a change in our political makeup. i want more oppositions into parliament. i want pap not to occupy majority seats in parliament.
having sufficient opposition members in parliament is an important step towards a democratic system. it will check pap from destroying our country with bad national policies; such as a loose immigration policy and paying themselves exorbitant salaries.
having opposition members of parliament will also stop pap from ill effects of group think, which is evident when towing the pap party line by pap members are expected. there could never be proper debates on critical issues; such a building of two casinos on our land and blatantly ignoring the social ills of such a policy.
having opposition members of parliament now, is a necessary step to evict pap members out of key ministerial positions. wong kan seng, who clearly failed in his duty when a terrorist could so easily escape from detention. mas selamat could have caused tremendous damage to Singaporeans while on the run. mah bow tan, who clearly slept on his job and caused the stratospheric rise in public housing prices. only after HDB prices have rocketed did he start introducing cooling measures. how could the “A” team have been so blind to the fact that bringing in 2 million foreigners will have no negative impact on our housing prices?
why do i still need to pay this so-called “A” team millions but cannot deliver “A” grade results?
i don’t need pap in parliament, because imo, they have caused us pain and sufferings in the last 10 years. they have no solutions and they probably will have no solutions for Singaporeans in the future.
i don’t believe they have what it takes to make Singapore relevant to the world.
pap is finished and Singaporeans will do better without them in parliament.
i will vote pap out of parliament.
and my fellow Singaporeans, you should seriously consider why we must have opposition members of parliament.
please vote wisely.
NEVERTHELESS…
For the longest time, we have allowed pap to retain control of parliament, nevertheless, it isn’t too late now to vote for a change
For the longest time, we have left pap unaccountable to Singaporeans, nevertheless, it isn’t too late now to check their contemptible behaviour
For the longest time, we have allowed pap to marginalize Singaporeans, nevertheless, it isn’t too late to grant back to Singaporeans what is rightfully ours
For the longest time, we have believed naively that pap serves the interests of Singaporeans, nevertheless, it isn’t too late realize their blatant lies
For the longest time, we have witnessed the wrong doings of pap and did nothing, nevertheless, it isn’t too late to do something
For the longest time, we have not given enough support to our fellow committed Singaporeans who want to represent us in parliament as opposition MPs, nevertheless, it isn’t too late to vote them into parliament
For the longest time, many Singaporeans have not had the chance to be active electors due to unfair and undemocratic pap political practices, nevertheless, finally, ALL Singaporeans now can exercise our constitutional right to vote
For the longest time, pap has been the ruling party, nevertheless, we can stop this now
NEVERTHELESS…..
